Ms. Mann was born in Stillwater, Oklahoma and obtained her Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and Juris Doctor degrees from the University of New Mexico. Her practice focuses on institutional and professional malpractice, health law and general insurance defense.
Before joining Bannermann & Williams, P.A., Ms. Mann practiced in the health law section of the litigation department of one of New Mexico's largest law firms. Approximately 60% of the practice involved medical malpractice defense. She represented hospitals, nursing homes, residential treatment centers, and individual healthcare providers including doctors, nurses, occupational therapists and dentists in personal injury and wrongful death cases.She is very knowledgeable regarding HIPAA compliance issues.
Ms. Mann also handled insurance defense cases involving a variety of claims covered by general liability policies and ERISA cases involving alleged wrongful denial of health or disability insurance.
Ms. Mann practices in both federal and state courts, including appellate courts.
Ms. Mann has taught several seminars for both lawyers and medical professionals on HIPAA Privacy Act provisions and on medical record-keeping.
As an engineer, Ms. Mann served as a site manager for four of twenty-four sites in the Uranium Mill Tailings Remediation Project, which involved cleanup and stabilization of radioactive and hazardous waste generated as a result of uranium mining. Position required coordination with state and local governments, Indian Tribes, the U.S. Environmental Agency and the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commisson. She enjoys using her engineering knowledge in medical device cases, and in construction related litigation.
